This is an interesting stop if you are already visiting NAS Pensacola museum and/or lighthouse. Unless you are a huge, huge fan of forts I wouldn't recommend going out of your way for a visit. But with the museum and lighthouse literal minutes away it...More

Spent a beautiful day engaging in the historical significance & beauty of the Fort. Clean and a great place for family to play together...something for all.

If you go to the lighthouse drive down the road a few blocks to see this fort, I enjoyed Ft Pickens more but was glad I stopped to see Fort also, lots of history to learn about the civil war days.

There are so many movies that depict fort battles. You drive to this fort on the base, park and are immediately on the battle site. Every aspect of the fort (outside) is available to view. Protective cannon swept the field of invaders as well as...More

It was a good walk and that's about it. The gate was locked to enter the fort so all you could do is view the outside. You could get the same experience by driving by this place and looking out your car window.

If you like history, then this a good place to stop at. The history of the fort and how it was built and who operated it is well explained by the staff. The tour is self guided and you can spend as much time as...More

I have been to many national parks and this one is great. It isn't too big that you get overwhelmed with everything. We lucked out and were the only 2 people for a tour. The information presented during the tour was so much more than...More

First, let me tell you if you use Google maps to get to the Fort it will take you on to the navel base. Second, be prepared to answer 50 questions and show ID. Third, you will be given a piece of paper that MUST...More

This is a great place to learn more about Pensacola's history. Theres lots of stairs and I'd suggest touring would be better in any month but summer for seniors or handicapped. Be sure to take some water and good walking shoes.

I went to both in the same day they are an hour apart and I would definitely choose Fort Pickens. The drive there is beautiful and worth the trip but a little long. Fort Barrancas is on a military base and a little hard to... More
