This is a no frills island with amazingly beautiful beaches. Had a great day swimming and laying on the beach under an umbrella.

We rented a pontoon to visit shell island. It was perfect for us because of our two small children. We made a day of shell island and fishing.

My family loved Shell 🐚 Island! After reading other reviews I was afraid we wouldn’t be able to find any shells but they were everywhere! I would do as they suggest and take an ice chest, some sort of cover (beachtent/umbrella) and your camera. We...More

Took the trip from Capt. Anderson Marina. It was the most inexpensive of many offered. We were in a covered vessel, your choice out of the sun! Saw many catamarans and other vessels with no place to shade. Shell Island is a barrier island. With...More

We've been to Shell Island twice, both times via a rented pontoon boat. We love to anchor on the bay side and relax, play in the water and explore the island. It is unblemished by development and just gorgeous.

We rented our own pontoon. Parked in a shallow inlet at an area where there are old dock ruins. Skinniest part of the island, so our walk was only about 100 yards to get to the beach. Keep in mind, we had to anchor in the... More

I think we paid $15. We enjoy Shell Island. We pack a picnic and take drinks. It's just so pretty, relaxing and not commercialized.
