We stayed here so that we would be near all of the beautiful beaches & it was the perfect location! We were close to the Venice beaches, including Caspersan Beach (our favorite) and the Sarasota area beaches, including Siesta Key, Lido Key) and the beaches...More

Trails are very sandy and poorly maintained. Wild life is something that we saw very, very little of and one turtle and a few birds were it. Would recommend skipping this spot and going elsewhere.

For just $5, you can spend a few hours or more. Close to Sarasota and Venice, the park highlight is renting a kayak for 10 bucks for an hour and exploring the black waterways. It is a spooky ride because the water is pitch black...More

We spent a week camping; great park to explore despite the rainy week. Brian and Brian at the Ranger Station were very knowledgeable and helpful. Spent time at the Venice area beaches looking for shells and shark teeth, shopping and enjoying the beautiful location. We...More

We camped for 4 nights, 5 days. Campsites are well secluded with vegetarian but short in length. We enjoyed the bike trails and hiking with our dog. The Legacy Trail is beautiful if you want to bike on pavement for miles! Hubby took a dip...More

I hardly consider this a park. it is an overgrown, nothing to see, underutilized patch of woods. Oscar Scherer is a missed opportunity for something better than a spot for dog walking.

In March there are few if any mosquitos, in September there will be some especially at dawn and sunset.

Yes, there is a bus stop! It's about a mile walk in to get to Lake Osprey and the Nature Center, but there is the South Creek Picnic area and multiple trails on your way in!

Sorry we didn't get to this question in a timely manner (it's a busy season for events here at the park!). In spring, summer and early fall, you can generally come into the park and there will be a site available, but there... More
