As others have reported this is about a one hour drive from Sarasota but it is pleasant drive through central Florida farm land. It is hard to describe the creativity and apparent genius of the artist that built this place completely by himself. The tour...More

This place is a good 40 to 50 mile drive from the west coast of Florida (Sarasota-Bradenton) in the middle of nowhere. Well worth your trip. Solomon was an amazing - eccentric artist who marched to his own beat. You will laugh, you will smile...More

Solomon's Castle is truly a delightful place with an artist who is unique and a non conformist. I wondered how his mind worked the way it did to create such interesting pieces. The stained glass was exquisite and the moat a classic touch. I enjoyed...More

But first, be prepared for the drive to nowhere! It is a boring, long drive. I am absolutely impressed by the artist's wit, talent, and prolific nature. After spending many hours at the Louvre in Paris and other prominent museums, I can honestly say that...More

Went on a ladies retreat with church. This place was very interesting to say the least. Quirky but fascinating at the same time. Restaurant on site was meh. Shops were pricey in my opinion, especially for what they were selling. It was insanely hot while...More

First, bring cash, there is a ATM in the gift shop. Everything is cash. We took the castle and car museum tour. They have guides, don't think you can just wander around the museums. Restaurant has good food, eat there because there is no other...More

Love this place and the $10 charge for the tour is worth it, I love the fact all of his art and sculptures are created from things others have thrown out. Don't miss home cooked meals at the boat in the moat also

My wife and I were looking for a relative short day trip near Tampa and ran across Solomon's Castle on a web site. We decided to go, and both kept an open mind, because we really didn't expect much. Boy, were we wrong! What a...More

Truly enjoyed out visit to Solomon's Castle. A quirky kind of tour of a quirky place. Amazing sculptures, and stained glass. The food at the restaurant was good. If I had a complaint it would be that the tour itself is short and guided. I...More

Stumbled across this place while driving the back roads of Florida. My wife and I took the full tour figuring “when in Rome”. The story of the Artist and how his pieces came about were entertaining and interesting. They have a restaurant on the property...More

Cash only. The Castle alone is $12.50. There is a second Gallery for an additional $10.00 or a package of $18.50.

There is one apartment sort of behind the castle proper. It is an efficiency-type, so I don't know about "overnight".
