Great state park with many access points within the area. We camped there for three days. Trailer sites are huge---bath houses centrally located--they are a bit dated but kept very clean. Hiking trails are numerous and easily arranged into loop trails if you desire. Visitor...More

This is my second visit here . last time we saw buffalo, wild horses, lots of alligators and many birds. Now we saw.just alligators and birds because most of the land is under water since the summer storms.

I have been there hiking and riding our horses. Super nice both ways. Natural, clean, inspiring. Worth traveling to see the nature and wildlife. I will visit again.

This was our 2nd visit to Paynes Prairie and it did not disappoint. We walked the Cones Dike trail and saw several beautiful wild horses. I am sure you see something new each time you visit.

Not sure why, but Trip Advisor has two different Paynes Prairie's listed, but they are both the same thing. It's technically in Micanopy, which is near Gainesville. What struck me when I first walked out into the prairie was how vast it is—majestic and huge...More
