Hearing the history of the area from knowledgeable guides is a wonderful way to see this lovely area of Miami Beach. The walk covers a reasonable area - about 8 blocks north and south and 1 block west - and takes just under 2 hours. The architectural details of the buildings (inside and out) as well as the socio-economic changes... More

I have been going to southern Florida since the mid 1960's when I visited my grandparents. I thought I knew a lot about the area. I was wrong. This morning, my husband and I signed up for the art deco tour since I wanted to know more about the buildings. We thought it was going to just be about the... More

This is one of my favorite walking tours ever and if you are in Miami Beach please take time to learn about the Art Deco architecture in South Beach! It's very unique and very well preserved by the neighborhood - and the area has even passed guidelines for new buildings to fit in with the Art Deco look. Our guide... More

If you love architecture, do not miss this tour! Joel was our guide, and he was very knowledgeable, pointed out a lot of details and explained the characteristics of the different architectural styles seen in the area. At the end of the tour, he kindly provided us with a printout to take home with us which outlines the various building... More

Make sure to use THIS tour, which is for a nonprofit and is really thorough and interesting. (Some commercial competitors, but they are not so good.) Fascinating social and architectural history.

Tour starts from Museum and we had a wonderful time with our tour guide Rick. We did the evening tour and it was beautiful and enchanting with all the Neon lights. Rick was very knowledgeable about the history of Miami beach and took us inside couple of hotels to explain inside architecture. We loved it.

We learned so much about The Art Deco district, as our guide really knew the history that underlay the development of Miami Beach buildings over all the ups and downs since 1900, explaining the various architectural features. It was a fun and fascinating experience. We spent the remaining days with our eyes more alert to this wonderful preservation area. Big... More

Tour was excellent. Would recommend to anyone wanting to learn the history of area and the architecture of the area. Rick our guide was very informative and entertaining. Also nice to know the money for ticket is going to the preservation society to help protect the beautiful designs instead of a company.

We met at 10am at the Museum on tenth st. Did a 90 minute walk with Joel A description of the Art Deco building and the history of South Beach from swamp to now! Joel took us in to a few buildings, high lighted the architecture and kept us interested the whole time! We finished with a handout with restaurant... More
