The Jewish Museum of Florida-FIU is the only Museum dedicated to telling the story of 250 years of Florida Jewish heritage, arts and culture. The museum is housed in two adjacent lovingly restored historic buildings, at 301 Washington Avenue on South Beach, that were once synagogues for Miami Beach's first Jewish congregation. The museum's focal point is its core exhibit, "MOSAIC: Jewish Life in Florida, 1763 to Present" and its temporary history and art exhibits that change periodically. A Collections and Research Center, several films, Timeline Wall of Jewish history, museum Store filled with unique items and Bessie's Bistro complete the experience for visitors of all ages and backgrounds. The museum is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums.

This museum chronicles the history of Florida Jewish immigration and contributions to the state and community. It is housed inside a renovated synagogue with an annex. There are permanent exhibits, temporary exhibits, and a wonderful film which plays frequently. It was free on a Saturday visit and an enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours out of the heat.... We really had a great experience wandering around the museum and learning about the Jewish influence, not only of Miami Beach, but for the entire state of Florida. We then went on the walking food tour, where we ate until we could not eat another bite. The ending was Key Lime pie from Joe's Crab Shack- that was outstanding. This... More

I went with my kids to the museum and also took the walking tour. Both we're interesting and gave us the opportunity to see Miami Beach in a different way.

Have visited the Holocaust Memorial with no problem. We have tried for three years with no luck - because there is NEVER anywhere to park!!! Noticed on recent review they said they parked next door at parking lot - where there are at least 6-8 empty parking spaces, but were told by guard at front entrance ONLY FOR PERSONNEL THAT... More

This museum is located in two buildings that were actual synagogues in the past. They show the history of the Jewish people in the development of Florida. A well done video gives a good intro, and a docent (Mr Greenspoon) gives a quick overview. There are rotating exhibits, most recently including one about Iraqi Jews. Admission is $6, with $5... We spent a few hours at the Museum and enjoyed the exhibits very much. The kids (between age 14 and 8) remained engaged and asked a lot of questions. The price ($12 a family) was affordable. No problem to park in the lot just next door.

We have a condo in South Beach and I have walked past this building countless times over the past decade, yet never ventured in. This winter I learned about a special exhibit of Jewish books and other items found in Saddam Hussein's headquarters that finally prompted me to visit the Museum. For a token $6 admission, I enjoyed an hour... More

Interesting exhibits and information regarding Florida Jewish history. Had a great tour guide who also showed us the surrounding area which previously was all Jewish.
