Just The Funny - Miami's Home for Improv and Sketch Comedy! The most prolific and celebrated improv theatre company in South Florida, and 5-time winner of the New Times - Best of Miami award, Just The Funny's cast of comedic actors presents interactive shows every Friday and Saturday night at 9:00 pm, featuring sketches, parodies, music and improvised scenes, including everything from "Whose Line is it Anyway" to "Chicago-style" long-form improv, and it's all based on YOUR suggestions! The Just The Funny Theater is located at 3119 Coral Way in Miami (just 6 blocks East of Miracle Mile), and is a spacious, yet intimate, 100 seat theater with stadium seating, and even a VIP box. Just The Funny presents shows at the theater every Friday and Saturday night at 9 pm, and also offers classes in South Florida's only improv training center, featuring 5 levels of adult improv classes, a sketch writing class, and classes for kids and teens. Each of the classes concludes with a student performance and certificate of completion.

Good inexpensive fun for a Friday or Saturday night. We went to the 9pm improv and sketch show. Good laughs. Crowd interactive. We didn't stay for the 11 pm show which is more pre-written but will likely go again to check it out.

Some Funny; Others Not So Much

We went to JTF's Friday Night Live and most of it was very funny. The guys for the most part seemed more comfortable and quick with the comebacks than the women. It seemed like they needed more practice as sometimes they just seemed to freeze and not be able to respond -- killing the humor. The venue is small and intimate which is great for audience participation and reaction. The price was good and we were entertained.

We stayed for the 11pm (free) set next door at the bar and honestly, it was terrible. It just was not funny. There were a lot of skits that just didn't make any sense and didn't go anywhere. The worst were the ones where they pretend they are sitting around a living room talking. We couldn't wait for it to end so we could go home.

For the cost of the show(s), we generally had a good time. A suggestion, if possible, is to have the bar offer mixed drinks. And, keep practicing... Don't take the first suggestion from the audience. Work the audience until you get something really funny.

Really enjoyed it, laughed a lot! Great fun for a Friday night! The price is fair for what you get. We went for the 9pm show and stayed for the 11 pm which was in the bar next door. Totally worth it!

A comedy show in Miami

We really enjoyed the improv and sketch comedy show. It was an intimate setting. The audience was as animated as the players.

Finally! No toilet!

After checking out the highly recommended "best, professional, creative" Villain Theater a couple of times, I got tired of the childish toilet humor and I went to see if the Just The Funny group near my office was better. Thankfully, they actually are professional and creative. You get a witty, fun (but not prudish) show each time. These people prove that they are skillful and can make comedy from anything. No cheap, adolescent stuff here.

Have visited a few times now and it's fun, funny and always new. Lots of laughs and pleasant atmosphere. A couple of shows to enjoy for the price of one.

Fun alternative to the club scene

If you want something to do in Miami that isn't part of the city's vibrant bar scene, this is a great choice. Just the Funny is an improv comedy club in Coral Gables. It is on the second floor of a commercial building. (There is a parking lot and spots on the street, but be prompt in refilling the meters because they are monitored vigilantly.) Admission is reasonably priced and everyone is very friendly. We saw "DeathMatch," a competition in which two teams of comedians compete to see who can complete various improv challenges best. The MC was hysterical! I am a big fan of improv and feel every company has its own strengths. I thought Just the Funny had amazing physical comedy. The verbal humor was always clever, but not vulgar. I don't say that because I'm prudish, but because you should know that the laughs at Just the Funny aren't generated by cheap and easy humor. I would definitely recommend Just the Funny for a great night. Also, kudos to whoever compiles the pre-show playlists. They were very well-crafted.

Improv ... It isn't just in Chicago anymore!

Everyone has heard of Second City in Chicago but Just the Funny in Miami was a great evening with incredibly talented actors. The show is based on suggestions from the audience and sometimes they select an audience member to play on stage. No two shows are the same and these actors are funny, witty and whip quick! You will be laughing - guaranteed. They usually run 3 shows Fri/Sat starting at 9PM thru 11PM. The recent addition of a small bar, the Spotlight, serving beer and wine is great to arrive earlier and get a drink. They also have soda, chips and some candy in the mainstage concession.

Don't miss this unique experience -- you won't be sorry you went.

What a blast!

i never knew how much fun watching improv is. These guys are hilarious and very quick. My friends and I enjoyed every minute of it and can't wait to see them again. I highly recommend this show to anyone who's looking for something different to do on the weekend.

A great night for all

Get out to JustThe Funny for great improv. Similar to Chicago but with their own twist. If you've never been to an improv show you're in for a treat.
