I have been to the Polk several times. It is a gem of a small movie palace. It is an atmospheric theater with stars twinkling in the "sky" and the feel that you are sitting in an Italian courtyard. The theater is equipped with a...More

Very nice old theatre. Lots of street parking and a block or do from downtown. They offer a few snacks and beer and wine. Seats seem bigger than most theaters. I don't think the sound system was a bit off.

This dates back to a time when live organ music entertained patrons before the start of the movie. The theater has been restored and has some beautiful features. They show only independent films and are open only on a limited basis. The all volunteer staff...More

This is a really cute place to come and watch movies. It is 1 of 9 places in Polk County that's on the national register of hysteric places.

This theatre was built in the 1920's and has been kept in it's original historic style. It hosts a number of events throughout the year, from dinner and movies on the weekends, to Rocky Horror Picture show every year at Halloween. It has a great...More

The Polk Theater is an "atmospheric" built in the early 1920s that has been lovingly restored to it's original glory complete with clouds at dusk giving way to stars in the night sky soaring above facades resembling an Italian renaissance courtyard. The multi-use facility even...More

The Terrace Hotel would be the high end, historical site, and is within walking distance. LaQunita would be the best of the more standard hotels. The one at 1024 Crevasse Street would be about 5 miles away.
