The transformation of the Oldest Firehouse in South Florida is a true museum and relic! The people who have transformed this historic building are truly the salt of the earth! Their fundraisers to keep up the maintenance and costs always involve the best homemade chili!

We just finished our tour of the Key West Firehouse Museum and it was terrific. The history here is amazing. You get a great guided tour and learn so much about Key West. If you're lucky Chief Castro will be your guide ask him to tell you the story of Chief "Bum" Farto. It takes about an hour to take... More

This is a worthwhile visit that provides history of Key West and the many brave firefighters who protect the island from tragic fires. While this is a serious cause the tour guides give you many humorous stories and have euipment for all to see and touch. Our guide Chief Eddy Castro told us stories of the fire pole, horses and... Awesome time. Definitely need to make time for this museum. Learned a lot of stuff I didn't know about the fire service and about the early Key West fire departments. Will definitely be back our next trip to Key West.

Well worth the time to visit. Lots of Key West history, very interesting pieces of history. Tours are run by retired Captains from the Department who are very knowledgeable about the history of the island.

One of the best kept secrets in Key West! Had a great tour of this museum. We spent about 2 hours there. The retired fire chief was very interesting and provided a lot of history of not only of the Key West fire service but the town as well. He is a life time resident and shared interesting stories of... More

This museum is inside an old firehouse. We were fortunate to have one of the retired chief's from Key West give us a tour of it. It was the most informative tours I have ever had at a museum. All the guys there were great and all ex-firemen. It was pretty cool to see the history they have preserved in... More

We been in and out of KW for years and never seen or heard of this place before. Located in old town this real out of service firehouse houses a lot of old KW history. Our tour guide was the retired KW Fire Chief Castro, what a source of KW knowledge!! He made the tour even more impressive. Our family... More

I stopped by this museum in the morning and was the only visitor at the time. I spent two hours here talking to the guys and taking the tour guided by the retired fire chief. You can learn so much from the exhibits and stories - not only about the firehouse, but the whole history of Key West. You can... More

The museum was great but the guys who man it, were fantastic. The former Chief conducted the tour. He has passion for and knowledge of the history of the Key West Fire Department. The other guys did too. The time is well spent and the fee is low. If you have any interest in the 1886 Key West Fire you... More
