Nice if you like cats and Hemingway

It's expensive ($13) and cash only, but worth it if you are a Hemingway fan and like 6-toed cats. Otherwise, could probably skip it.

The home is unique and the cats are entertaining but the ticket price is high for all that you can do while there. Neat setting within Key West and neat historical items in display.

As a retired English teacher, I had to visit the Hemingway house. The grounds are beautiful, the cats playful, and the house full of Hemingway memorabilia. We didn't wait for the free guided tour, but overhearing parts of it reassured me we didn't miss anything. I already knew everything I heard the guide telling people. However, if you didn't teach... Sorry, this was one of the things that we were looking forward to seeing. At 13 pp, it's a big NO! Also, there was a fence surrounding the property, maybe there was going to be a wedding there??

The brick wall was built under Hemingway's supervision in 1937 and is part of the National Historic Landmark. The admission fees support the perpetual upkeep of the 164-year-old mansion, 1-acre of lush landscaped gardens, one of the largest pools in Key West, 50 six-toed cats (care, medical attention, and feeding), a very dedicated staff and other related expenses. We receive... More

I have taken this tour several times. They allow you time to walk on your own through the grounds and make you feel like at guest in the home.

I am a fan of Hemingway, and I really enjoyed this museum. The tour is short, but our tour guide had some cool stories to share. The home and its architecture was beautiful. Make sure you bring cash.

Thank you very much for your excellent 5-star review! As a South Carolinian, you may share our enjoyment of the fact that your home-state of South Carolina actually has a city named Hemingway. The town of Hemingway was created from a crossroads community named Lamberts in 1911 by Dr. W. C. Hemingway, in an effort to secure a depot for... More
