This is arguably the best beach in Key West. There is adequate shade and picnic tables if the beach-side trees if you arrive early enough in the day. Otherwise, you can rent an umbrella and 2 chairs for $30 USD. NIce snorkeling around some "reefs" close to the beach. Be aware that the beaches are mostly rough rock. A challenge... More

A nice place to be. On display were cannons and a view of the fort was good. The fort had walls lizards as pets. If you are going to the beach, I recommend a visit here also.

I am a conch, an original Key West Native. I grew up here and have since moved away. My wife and I came back for a nice long visit and were very disappointed with many things and attractions. This fort is a decent place to visit BUT DONT listen to anyone who tries to tell you there is good or... More

Very interesting fort, but since you have to pay to get in you'll want to definitely take advantage of one of the few swimmable beaches in Key West. Lots of history right next to gorgeous blue water.

Truly a must see if you are into history!! To walk the same area soldiers walked during combat is an amazing feeling!

We didn't go for the Fort, but to snorkel. We went in the morning, 9:00 am, for calmer waters and so parking and claiming a picnic table would be easy. As others have mentioned this is rough sand, both on the beach and in the water. Wear some type of water shoe. You can bring your own snorkel gear or... More

This is a state park so don't expect white sandy beaches. The beach is rocky. Bring water shoes!!! The fort is very nice to walk through. The café has food that is pretty good. They have chair and umbrella rentals. If you arrive early enough you can get a picnic table under a tree.

This is where the iconic key west sign stands. We had no idea it was at this beach so we were beyond excited. The snorkel gear was a bit pricey at $15 for just the snorkel & mask. Another $5 for the fins. The snorkeling was decent. The concession stand was impressive and very reasonably priced. We chose this over... More

The beach is not worth the trip. Extremely rocky and unpleasant odors from the sea grass. That is plentiful. Hard to enter water with so much rock and shells. Disappointed in this beach area. The rest of the park is nice, but not the beach...but I will tell you a lot of people seemed to enjoy sitting on the beach.... More

Talk about a history lesson worth learning! It's part of the state park (which has a fee to get into based on how you are traveling and how many are in your party). For my wife and I it was $7 total. The fort is a perfect way to see how this country defended its self from pre-civil war though... More
