The best spot on Key West

Upon a discovery journey on rented bikes, we came in the park. It was the best spot we could have found! Bring a picnic, cause the 4$ hotdog are not that great.

The park was reasonably busy but there was still lots of parking. The water is not sandy so take water shoes. The fort has had virtually no investment, minimal interpretation, and no collection to speak of.

We rode bikes out to the state park to check out the fort. It was incredibly interesting. The fort was built and used by the Union army in the Civil War to fend off Confederate supply ships. The engineering ingenuity was amazing. We got some great photos and a wonderful appreciation of how that facility has stood the test of... More

For anyone who is in the keys, you MUST go here. The rocks and the view of the water was just so wonderful! Truly a beautiful site! You will not regret it.

We missed the one daily tour of the Fort at 11am So we had to do a self-guided tour and read the plaques and explored. My husband like old historical unique places like that, so he took his time. There is a beach area next to the fort. The beach was cool, and one of the best sunsets we’ve seen... More

When to the beach everyday here and spent one afternoon at the fort. The folks at entry are super friendly!

The state park is great and beautiful. However, the fort seemed a little run down. There were only a few signs up but most of the time you didn't know what anything was. A lot was off limits and there were random things just thrown into rooms. Seemed a little disorganized. The view from the top was beautiful though.

Sat at the beach, climbed the rocks, really enjoyed it. Bring flip flops or water shoes, parts are pebble covered.

This park is a great place to sit and watch the boat races and in between you have time to chill in the shade or lay on the beach. Traffic was a bit congested getting out afterwards but being on a scooter made it a lot easier.
