Recreational wreck dive

Dove the Benwood last weekend. First time on the wreck, was very interesting and saw a sea turtle as well. Watch out for the fire coral.

We had nice visibility and lots of life on the wreck, including a huge scorpion fish which was a treat. This is a destroyed wreck with not a lot of structure left, but lots of fish!

This was my first wreck dive and loved it. Got to see lots of fish, including sharks, eel, barracudas, parrot fish, sand diggers, turtles, etc.

The Benwood is an easy wreck to dive and navigate. Plenty of marine life to see hiding out in the various crevices and hidey holes of the wreckage. No matter what, its a cool piece of history to see, coupled with the fact that diving is ALWAYS fun. Go see it, if you don't enjoy it, see it again and... More

After doing the Spiegel Grove a bit of a let down, but still a nice dive. Use Rainbow Reef dive shop if you go. Ask for Pete (private guide).

The Benwood wreck was not "intact" like the Spiegel Grove, but has been there long enough to have some very significant marine growth on it. The marine life was abundant and the Vis was great. Rainbow Reef Dive Center comes through, again.

Nice dive, nice wreck that a lot of sea life has made their home. Make sure you swim along the bottom of the outer edges of hull to find all kinds of interesting fish. Many classes of Barracuda as well as yellowtail, and several flavors of parrotfish.

This wreck is in shallow (40 ft) waters, so it's accessible to novice divers. It's chock-full of sea life; I saw midnight parrotfish, a trumpetfish, Atlantic spadefish and at least 50 other species on a single dive there.

The Benwood has been down there a while and it is pretty much a hulk but the wildlife abound... I have never seen so many fish. The depth is 35-40' so it is no problem diving and the visibility is good but no great... there are quite a few dive boats with groups so you must stay close to your... More
