Something to see

This was very interesting to see - unfortunately they are not doing tours anymore. Would be awesome to go inside and take a look at this fabulous property.

The old Howey mansion is a piece of history but unfortunately, the new owner has not kept it up. You are warned not to trespass and the windows are now mostly boarded up. It is deemed historical and you can still see that it was grand in its day.You can walk down a small trail which begins just at the... More

A real estate agent whose company was managing the property gave a tour to a very limited number of people about a year about a half ago. The inside is a lot better off than you would think. The ballroom curtains are still there and appear serviceable (unbelievable). The landscape architect was Mulford B Foster whom I met as a... More

This very historic mansion caught my eyes when I first read about it on an abandoned Florida webpage. It's so very beautiful to even just see from a far. Kinda beat-up but in a pretty good shape for how old it is. I'd definitely recommend driving by and stopping outside the stone gates to take a look at this wonderful... More

The street view of the estate made you want to see more the interior. The outside shows that it was a grand place at one time and very special to the owners. Would love to see in the inside. It is currently for sale and hopefully the buyers will restore to its original grandeur.

We were told about the house and then Google searched for it. Amazing story behind it and the day we peeked over the Stone wall a Bank inspector was there taking pictures cause the building is in need of a new roof

Well, it's an intriguing story, and the old Howey estate looks like the one in the B&W film, SUNSET BOULEVARD, with its stone walls and iron gates surrounding a moldering, once grand mansion. But it's boarded up, with No Trespassing signs on the gates. Too bad, it's such a romantic tale from the story of a truly larger-than-life 1920's robber... More

Too bad you couldn't go up to see the mansion. The gates were locked so you couldn't get close. Very over grown with a lot of vines. You could tell it was once a beautiful place. Too bad it is in such disrepair . Hopefully someone could buy it and fix it up.

My lottery house still sits in disrepair. No action going on as far as I can tell. Such a shame because the mansion is spectacular. You can take a virtual tour on YouTube. There is also an organization called William J. Howey Mansion Community Restoration Project and they have a Facebook page. Looking for volunteers. Hopefully we will see some... More
