The Hobe Sound Nature Center is a private, non-profit organization, dedicated to environmental awareness and education. The Center is a cooperating association with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and located at the Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge. The Center is home to over twenty different species of animals as well having many other interactive displays. One of our unique features is that our resident animals are able to be taken out and be touched by children. The Nature Center offers both on and off-site native wildlife presentations and field experiences to the local community. We host many events throughout the year including weekend special events, seasonal lecture series, and a summer nature camp for students ages 6 to 12. A highly popular event is our sea turtle walk program, held from the end of May through mid July.

This is a small ---in fact very small National Park. Once you get there however you find out how unique it is and because of that its loss would cause great damage to many species. When you walk in the door the first thing you see is an all terrain wheel chair for the handy-caped. There is an education center... More

My 3 grandchildren 9, 6, 3 all loved the interactive exhibits. They even got to touch a baby gator! They have live animals in their natural habitat that is fascinating to learn about. Even a skunk! Trails of all kinds are available and while there is no fee, donations are greatly appreciated. A gift shop is also available. Great place... More

Nice little exhibit and packed with tons of information, well worth the effort to find a parking spot and it's free!

The center is interesting and informative. Friendly staff. You can walk on several different trails. The walk is probably better on cooler days.

A great little gem and you can park and hike 4-5 trails down to the beach for ZERO $... The trail to the south (behind the building) called the Scrub Trail is GREAT, but then again, they all are, but this one is often overlooked... You can do them all in 40 min and all end up at the water...

This nature center is perfect for small children. There is a short sandy trail to follow, which is also a good length for ittle ones. We thought the beach was interesting with a thick sugar sand. The staff at the nature center was EXTREMELY helpful in recommendations for area restaurants and also a good everglades tour. First class customer service!

We went here when three of my great grandchildren were visiting, had an excellent time. No charge, they were very good at explaining the animals and reptiles to them took their time and didn't rush them. They let the kids touch the snakes if they wanted to. They have a nice gift shop there also so the kids could get... More

Enjoyed our visit. The center is small but has informative and nice exhibits. Good for the entire family. Half mile nature trail is very nice. The lagoon beach area is small but beautiful.

I enjoyed a break from sightseeing on the road on the shaded front porch bench of the nature center building, admiring the weather, foliage and peace. By accident I overheard the musings of international visitors to this tony and clubby area. This is a low key spot with a variety of easy and pretty hikes. Recommend for parents with young... More
