The Devils Millhopper it’s a small park in northern Gainesville. It’s been around forever as a place where people would go visit even before it was a state park. Deafly worth a visit.

To be fair, the site had a notice that the walkway down “in” was still inaccessible from last year’s hurricane, but we read that there were still good views into the sinkhole. That is incorrect - it’s overgrown and obscured. There are picnic tables near...More

This huge sinkhole gives you a peek into Florida's geological past. The trip down the steps is pretty easy. Coming back up is a bit strenuous but there are places to stand and rest if need be. A pretty pond is your reward for making...More

This is a big Florida "sinkhole" with a small pond at the bottom and a stairs going down so you can see it all. HOWEVER, Hurricane Irma damaged the stairs in September of 2017 and the park service is *still* PLANNING the repairs. Well, PLANNING...More

A pleasant walk down a series of steps takes you 120' down to the tropical-feeling bottom of this huge sinkhole. *Note- The walkway down to the sinkhole was damaged by Hurricane Irma and is closed as of 3/1/18. You can still take a leisurely stroll...More

A great place to experience a sink hole with very diverse vegetation. A nice place to walk and climb stairs. The parking lot is shaded and easy to find. The stairs are well maintained and unexpected.

Such an interesting geologic site in an otherwise drab landscape. Shame on you State of Florida and Park management for not fixing the stairs down to the sink hole within a month after the hurricanes.

I am sorry but not sure. The park service has been repairing them but delayed due to all if the heavy rains we have had this year.
