This is a beautiful historic former home and hotel in downtown Gainesville. We were there for a recital performance in the atrium. There was also a wedding taking pictures outside when we were leaving. Such a gorgeous, peaceful setting!

We attended a wedding at the Thomas Center. There is plenty of parking, the grounds are well kept. The wedding was held in a small courtyard which was a perfect venue for this event. It was both shady and outside. There is a small balcony for the minister and wedding party and the grounds offer a wonderful place for pictures.... More

Invited by my guitar instructor, we decided to visit the Thomas Center for this event. I found that it was a really beautiful place where many formal events could take part, and I found it was properly looked after and it reflected the epoch at which the building was built up.

Love the Thomas Center, it's one of my favorites. They have a variety of rooms sizes and some really lovely rooms with beautiful old tiles. The outdoor fountain is gorgeous. Even if you aren't planning or attending an event, it's worth a look for its history.

Management response:

Thank you so much! We consider ourselves one of Gainesville's best-kept secrets. We do host meetings and events of various sizes and our museum spaces and art galleries are open to the public. We encourage people to come wander through and check us out! We just restored the fountain this summer. We're glad you like it! More

This was the venue for my wedding back in March, and it couldn't have been more perfect. The setting is beautiful, and so is the history. Robert Frost used to stay here with his wife when it was a hotel. The City of Gainesville also frequently hosts events here.

A mansion with a few re-created rooms of the wealthy Gainesville baron who lived there long ago. The art gallery when I was there featured the works of good ol' boy master carver Jesse Aaron, who did things like make totems then put baseball caps on them. He added spirit to many of his carvings - whether animal or human... More

This is a historic building, once a home, then a hotel and now a mix of cultural offerings and offices. The integrity of the building has been maintained. There are some rooms that have not changed in over 100 years and show the furnishings of the time with memorabilia and explanations for each room. The Thomas Center hosts weddings, group... More
