The history of Amelia Island is very interesting, and the various "flags" or nations that ruled the area. We spent about three hours and learned a lot of history of the area. A lot of volunteers are involved to make this museum a success. Well...More

Our guide and historian that guided us through the museum was amazing. She certainly knew her Florida History. Wonderful experience.

Easy going Museum that spans the history of the area under 8 different flags. Loved having our map stamped at each room in the museum. Good gift shop. We were too early for tour but bet it is worth it.

This is a small museum like local history museums tend to be. The exhibitions were beautifully done, had the clever touch of a "scavenger hunt," and even a tour guide on a Sunday! I would recommend that everyone stop here to really understand the area.

We took the 11:00 AM docent tour of the museum. We were told about the eight flags that have flown over Amelia Island. Fascinating history.

The Amelia Island Museum of History has a few of the artifacts in the Spanish Mission exhibit and History Miami has a few others, the bulk of the artifacts are housed at UF.

The Amelia Island Museum of History is actually part of the original old jailhouse. (Very unique.) Amelia Island does offer boat tours, but one has nothing to do with the other. :)
