I have been mountain biking twice now and have had the same experience on two different trails; poor relationship between provided maps from forestry service and trail markers. Specifically, maps are black and white copies of what appears to be a color original. Therefore, the...More

Myakka River State Forrest looks like a good place for tent camping... We've done extensive primitive camping with our 5th Wheel but wouldn't recommend this campground for trailers. We arrived at Site 8 to find a small entrance with a 90 degree turn in from...More

Reserved the waterfront campsite - a private area on the water with a dock, two picnic tables and fire pit. We were not allowed to build a fire because of a current fire ban in the parks. It only costs $10 for one night at...More

Note - This is NOT Myakka State Park. This 'forest' is an area of basically flat land that was slated for subdivision before being rescued by politicians. It's not markedly different than vacant lots in the area. I believe it's attractive to horse riders and...More

Pay to drive a 2 mile dirt road. A trail or two if you care to walk. At the end of the road you have to turn around and go back the way you came because the gate is closed.

We will be back; very nice trails. Walked up to the top of the tower. Long line but it went very quickly; worth the climb. Several trails. We will be back.
