Lovely on the water

A lovely place to kayak, it seems unspoiled and much wildlife is easily viewed. A really picturesque place to visit.

We saw black bear, crabs, birds, and more it's a must paddle. You will want to have some experience before you paddle here. Some places are shallow and you will be going against the current.

Beautiful clear spring fed water everywhere I kayaked on this river. I went early & ended up with a special treat...watching an otter family of 6 hanging out right in front of my kayak in one of the side tributaries I took! Swimming & bobbing up & down, eating their fresh catch in front of me, running along the riverbank... More

We spent the morning kayaking on 'The Chaz' - clear water.. beautiful scenery and the hidden alcoves with natural springs were so fun to get to. It gets busy on the weekends but even then, it's ridiculously peaceful. Don't miss The Chaz river.. rental of kayaks is either full day or after 130 pm for half day. Bring sunscreen and... More

This location is well know for its varied ecological systems and terrain. Hiking is the preference, but you can browse the visitor center, or wander about grounds. They hose a number of trainings for educators and the public alike. FWC is the contact for scheduling volunteer opportunities here as well. Take a hike!

I loved kayaking down this river & seeing the 7 springs/caves. Some young guys were diving thru the caves & coming up on the other side. I was too scared to do that. We bumped into 2 women, who told us about some finger canals to kayak down & they were beautiful! It got really tight in spots & we... More

What a great location. nice to see injured birds and animals taken care of. Loved the Hippo. Wild birds join the locals and the place is like being in the Galapagos.

This has to be one of my favorite places to paddle in the area. The small caves at the beginning of the springs are fascinating and of course the water is crystal clear - lots of fish in the area and were hoping for some manatees but the Gulf had not cooled off enough to run them into the springs.
