Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great walk out to a beautiful view! People fishing, pelicans diving, nice breeze! Take the time to see this; just feels like coast life! Bridge st. is super cool, and the little bait shop here is worth a stop as well. Haven’t tried amob yet, but would love to!

We loved visiting this pier. It was great for watching people fish, seeing the views, and just enjoying being out on the water. It was very well-maintained and we had a quick snack there which was good. Nice place to stop and take in the surroundings.

We loved visiting this pier on our vacation. We parked a few blocks away. It’s free to walk on the pier. There is a restaurant but we did not dine there. We saw birds and a lot of people fishing. Fish is free and they offer pole and bait rentals for a small fee. There are also bathrooms.

It was a little windy when we walked out on the pier. We enjoyed looking at the bay side and seeing the boats. Was hoping to see a dolphin but we didn't.

We had a great time walking out on the pier and having a great view with great food and service. The skyline bridge on I275 can be seen at 8 miles away

I've been visiting Anna Maria Island since I was a child. I still come every year with my husband. We spend nearly every day fishing at this pier and I am SHOCKED at the homeless population that has quite literally taken over not just the pier, but the entire island!
While it's quite a sad situation, you also must take into account that this is a place where families with young children come for vacations and to visit with friends and relatives. There is absolutely ZERO police presence and on multiple occasions, there were two or more EXTREMELY inebriated homeless men raising hell on the dock, pestering vacationers for money and cigarettes among other items.
The locals certainly aren't helping as my husband and I witnessed several locals bringing alcoholic drinks and to go food to these men.
This is a very sorry state of affairs and I am devastated that this is what this island has become.

What are the hours of operation for Bradenton Beach Pier (i.e. is it open 24/7)? And are the hours seasonal? Thanks in advance!

What kinds of fish can I expect here and can anyone suggest a bait to use? Thanks in advance.

We caught lots of mangrove snapper, grunts, pinfish and a 5-pound pompano. They were all caught on live shrimp. You can catch lots of cat fish in the evenings and at night. We catch small bonnet head shark here as well on pinfish ore whole squid. Don't catch any snook; they are out of season.

do you guys rent fishing poles? if so for what price?

There we no bait or pole/gear rental facilities in the immediate area of the pier (walking distance anyway, there's a great bait shop just over the nearby bridge you can drive to) so you'll need to plan ahead before you go.
