Loved It!
Sep 2021
We ended up stopping here on our way from Ocean City to Rehobeth and absolutely loved the setting next to the bridge. We were planning to go to Bethany or Dewey beach, just to try something different from Ocean City, but this small, much quieter, beach venue caught our attention and we love it! Reminded me a lot of the shore line in San Francisco near the Golden Gate Bridge, which I've visited a few times.

Beautiful State Park
Aug 2021
I stop by here regularly on my bicycle rides along the coast. The park straddles both banks of the Indian River. There's plenty of parking and camping is allowed on the North shore of the park. I don't know the price for camping, but the day use fee is $5 in-state & $10 out-of state. The South shore has a great restaurant/bar and the North shore has a marina & bar. The state park also plenty of restroom and showers.

When riding on your bicycle, you can access the state park without paying and use the facilities. If you're camping at the park, Dewey Beach is approximately 5-miles north and Bethany Beach is approximately 5-miles south. To get between the North and South shores, you'll have to cross the bride that goes across the Indian River. There are both/separate bicycle and pedestrians lanes on both sides of the bridge.

There are also beautiful sandy beaches along eastern shoreline of the park on both the North and South Shores.

Burton's Island Loop Trail
Jul 2021
Great park for fishing, camping, and the beach. Only one real hiking trail in the whole park around Burton's Island Nature Preserve (1.3 mile loop, flat, easy, gravel/sand unpaved trail). Some restaurants there and plenty of parking.

Beautiful Seaside
Jul 2021
We strolled the clean sandy beaches for hours. It was a Friday in July, so was very busy near the visitor center, but thinned out a few hundred yards south. There were lots of families, and it was quiet except for the murmur of beach goers and the crashing waves.

Laid out like a sparse mini golf course

We stayed one night at the campground at the base of a large highway bridge. You drive around and around. No trees, small sites, most restrooms are closed and power only (no water or septic). No fires allowed. The bike / hiking path is nice.

Beautiful Beach
Sep 2020
The campground is not the greatest. It's like camping in a giant parking lot - no trees and an asphalt base. Plus, campfires are prohibited. The restrooms are nice and the showers are free. Within walking distance is the lovely, uncrowded beach. I'm not sure but I think if you go in the off season the $10 charge per car load is waived.

Beautiful area!
Sep 2020
This was our first visit (South Side) and I am so glad we took a chance! I'm a glamper...not really a hardcore camper. We have a 30' Class C motor home and enjoy the amenities many campgrounds have like pools, swim up bars, etc., so this was "roughing it" for me. Although the actually camping area is more like a parking lot, it was level, clean, easy to hook up and everyone was kind and considerate of their close neighbors. The location and price can't be beat...you are surrounded by water! A five minute walk has you on the beach and ocean, which is clean and lovely. The Big Chill restaurant is right there on the beach and has spectacular views and surprising great food! The other end of the campground gives you beautiful sunsets. Take a walk/bike/ride over the bridge to the North Side (Beautiful views!) and you have the marina, Hammerheads Dockside restaurant, and Burton's Island. We took an Uber into downtown Rehoboth and that was easy enough (sadly, they stop the DART bus mid-month). We were never bored but found time for some relaxing. We are looking forward to our next visit, planning to stay on the North Side. It was a really great trip!

The beach was beautiful, clean and was not very crowded. They do charge 10 per car load for out of state people.
