We took a tour of three historic houses sponsored by the Historic Odessa Foundation. The tour itself was $10 for three houses and that certainly was worth the money. The first two houses the tour guide talked about the history of the house and the items in it. The third house had an exhibit called the Nutcracker and The Mouse... More

I had my second visit here last weekend. The historical house (3 of them) tour is wonderful...nice detail on family life back in the 18th c. Glad the society is taking such good care of the homes and adding special events through the year. Check out the GREAT Cantwells's Tavern and Restaurant...very good food..and if you still have time...take the... More

Delaware is quirky in so many ways, often thanks to DuPont money, and this is no exception. The concept is that several houses have been preserved to their 18th century grandeur. We took our kids on the family haversack tour (the kids get haversacks stuffed with fun things to pull out at different points along the way - $18 for... More

This is a little out of the way, but we'll worth the visit! The guides were incredible in their knowledge and humour. In addition they wanted to share their knowledge with us, the visiting public. We went through three houses from the 1700's which are painstakingly restored and well kept. We asked lots of questions and our guides did not... More

Please do not repeat my mistake: I was there on a Monday and the Historical Society conducting free tours was closed. We walked around and took photos, but from what we saw, most of the historical houses had signs “Private” which makes it highly unlikely to be open for visits. We had drinks at Cantwell's Tavern (separate review) and decided... More

These are some truly beautiful homes. It's great to just walk up and down the street to just admire the historic nature of the homes and the exquisite architecture of the federalist period.

What a charming town. They've made a effort to conserve the historic atmosphere and it worked. The town has about 350 residents and is easily walkable.

We made a special trip from NY to Historic Odessa DE with the express intention of touring the Historic Houses of Odessa. We are very glad that we did! Our docent, Pearl Ann was very knowledgeable and we had gotten to tour 3 houses (Collins-Sharpe, Corbert-Sharpe and Wilson Warner House). Historic Houses ranged from 1700 to mid 19th Century and...
