Visited the Lewes Historical Society and enjoyed the self guided tour of the various historic buildings on site. There was a good variety of different building types gathered from around Delaware, and they provide great insight to the ways people lived and worked in earlier days. The interior and exterior architecture was amazing in some cases. The docents did a... More

Stroll around and learn about the group of historic structures assembled here. Main office includes a small museum. Great for history buffs.

Just coming back on the Cape May Ferry from the 2nd annual Spooky Lantern Tour. Walking thru the town of Lewes we came across ghostly figures who proceeded to tell us of their untimely deaths. Walking thru the cemetery several more ghosts appeared. A great job by the actors and staff who made us feel we were back in time.... More

Lewes is the 1st town in the 1st state to sign the U.S. Constitution. Its historical charms are extensive, and the Lewes Historical Society is a great place to start. There is free parking close by. Visit LHS, then walk to downtown Lewes along 1st street (borders Delaware Bay).

My family and I had a blast on this one hour tour. The historian was full of local knowledge and presented the information in a manner that even had my six year old mesmerized. The trolley itself was a smooth ride, it had great air conditioning and was easy to find at the ferry terminal. I guarantee you will want... More

Once a year the Lewes Historical Society sponsors a Sea Glass Festival. This year it was held at the Lewes-Cape May Ferry Terminal. It was wonderful to say the least. The parking was great and there is a lot of space to wander and see the many booths. The sea glass creations were exceptional this year and it was hard... More

I am a member of the society and have gone to the society locations. Lewes is a nice city ( more a town) and going to the various historic sites it worth while. Tells one a lot about slower lower Delaware and the seafarer and River heritage.

Located in the oldest house in the state this is a great place to introduce yourself to the history of the area. They are staffed, at least in the day we visited with helpful and extremely knowledgeable volunteers.

The buildings on the compound are fascinating. The Historical Society building is full of historical information and meaningful gifts. The staff can answer any questions and they are so friendly.
