It’s wonderful to go to a beach after Labor Day and you practically have the place to yourself.
I really wish they would enforce the no dog rule until September 30 it was during September when we went and it’s hard to focus on the beautiful dolphins swimming when you’re worried about all the dogs running up on you.

Clean beach and fine sand. Also wide beach and not crowded. Challenging surf but not too rough.
Easy public access

Pleasantly surprised
Aug 2021
We spent 7 days there recently and of course the weather means everything. We had sunshine everyday which meant hours in the pool and the bay (Ocean was too rough for our young kids). The town is very clean, restaurants and bars are plentiful and not a hint of any trouble whatsoever. I don't think I even saw a cop all week

Dog and people friendly/
Aug 2021
Dewey Beach is a quiet, dog-friendly and people-friendly beach town. Quieter and much more chill than Rehobeth. I think you need to rent within walking distance because there are no public facilities on the beach, no bathrooms, changing rooms, and little public parking, if any. Umbrellas are $14 to rent for the day. The sand is super soft and clean. They comb it nightly. In the early mornings, people bring their dogs to the beach! This was my favorite part. And at night, my boys and I spotted dolphins.

I beg, though, for someone in Dewey Beach government to work with local establishments to cut down on their plastic use. For a beach town, where the ocean is their livelihood, I expected better. Restaurants use so much single-use plastic. Straws, cups, dipping cups. It's so upsetting.

Great place to vacation
Aug 2021 • Family
Just had our first experience with Dewey Beach and would recommend to everyone. Lots of things to do, great places to eat and fun was had by all. Warning…..the beaches are small and packed and bars are crowded inside or out. One member of our group contracted covid. Fingers crossed the rest of us didn’t.

Lovely but need more focused lifeguards
Aug 2021 • Family
Lovely place but lifeguards are regularly distracted, talking amongst themselves rather than focusing on bathers.

Nice beach
Jul 2021
It is a nice, clean & not very crowded beach. They have lifeguards part of the day. They seem to rake up sand & collect trash (plus have bins for trash, cans & bottles on the beach).

It is good if you are staying close by, it was a short walk from the hotel. It probably wouldn't be a good location for a day trip though - I think it is set up to cater to the people who made reservations & just walk over.

Crowds everywhere
Jul 2021
This is a popular beach town. People every where so driving is hazardous. Lots of restaurants and out side seating next to a busy highway. I’m not impressed

Only 3 bathroom areas
Jul 2021 • Family
There are bathrooms only at 3 crowded locations. If u have health problems, need to change a pad or have kids, u can’t simply go to beaches of your choice to spend the day. I HAVE to stay close to these 3 crowded places to have access to a bathroom, assuming u find parking.
This is SO disappointing and frustrating. Beside these 3 places, u won’t even find a porta potty.

Family trip

Nice beach no bathrooms and if you get hurt the lifeguards are not equipped to assist. Child hit nose and bleed and the only thing they had was a bandage. Beach is clean and walkable from where we stayed but not happy with first aid situation.
