Old Wethersfield is a wonderful place to walk just about any season of the year. The terrain is flat. The Cove (of the CT River) is attractive and, above all, you get to view many historical houses that are adorned with plates that give the Year they were built. Many of the houses have interesting gardens.

This town was just lovely - beautiful old homes and a real New England feel. It's a great place for a leisurely stroll and soaking up history. I will say that I was disappointed that there weren't more shops. We had read somewhere that Wethersfield had a lot of small crafty artisan type shops and we saw literally ONE store.

We took a quick trip to Old Wethersfield while waiting for my friend's husband at the DMV. What a cute little gem this is! We went around the old cemetery there and walked all the way down to the cove and walked around there which was very nice and charming. Don't forget to pick up your ice cream from main... More

Every time I come here is see every bit of character of the past. It's so quaint and quiet, a true little treasure that has a story that comes with it. If you get a chance take a little trip here.

Stroll down the quaint town and have lunch at Village Pizza or Lucky Lou's. Then, go to Country Store and enjoy looking at some of the most nostalgic items of all time! Go for ice cream at the Main creamary, yum!! Then, go to the Cove down the street and watch the sun set! Very nice to walk around or... More

If you are in Hartford and you have 2-3 hours to spare, I would take the trip to Old Wethersfield. A very charming area with a lot of well kept, but old, houses. Several places to eat or you can enjoy an ice cream from the local creamery. There are several museums you can visite - or you can just... More

If you like history, Old Wethersfield is the place to be. We have places where Washington slept, where his army stayed, etc. One of the crown jewels is First Church and the Meeting House. You can imagine all the fire and brimstone sermons that went on there, not so much anymore (grin). It doesn't take too much of an imagination... More

Had an excellent weekend away visiting Old Wethersfield for the first time. We wanted a historic place where we could do a lot of walking and this place is perfect. Friendly town, well maintained sidewalks and paths, and every home seemed to have a beautiful garden to admire. Great opportunities to explore several decades of history.
