This farm has been owned by the same family since the 1700's and during summer months up through Thanksgiving, sell apples, home-made cider, and the best cider donuts anywhere. You can freeze them and eat them any time later on. They also have vegetables and lots of pumpkins for Halloween. A bit out of the way (look for the signs),... More

We've been visiting Averill Farm every fall since the kids were little; they're now 13 and 11 and still love the tradition. This year's apple crop wasn't great, but we were still able to pick a big bag. Their cider donuts and cider are delicious and recommended highly by the kids. It is not inexpensive here. Two dozen donuts, a... More

We had a nice apple picking experience BUT I will never understand why places who want your business do not provide full service on the Monday of a 3 day weekend. Really? Your Pizza truck is open on the weekends but not on the Monday of a 3 day weekend. Get a grip. . . You don't need an MBA... More

We come here a lot. We get our apples and all of our fall treats here. It's a great family run business. Gorgeous scenery all around, it's a great way to spend the day with the family or with friends.

Apple picking since 1745! So many varieties of apples. Plus all kinds of pies, donuts, apple cider and lots more! They have other special activities during the season as well.

I live in the Danbury area and this is by far the best place nearby to go apple picking. I've tried them all (Blue Jay, Outhouse Orchards, etc.) Well worth the drive up to Washington Depot. NO CROWDS, tons of apples, beautiful view overlooking surrounding hillsides, lovely little shop with jams, jellies, donuts.

Family owned farm, this place is tucked away above Washington CT. Beautiful scenery, pick your own apples for kiddos and pumpkins, apple treats and THE BEST apple cider donuts. They also have some apple wines and ciders to try. The Pizza Truck they have waiting outside is gourmet -- definitely try the "Herbalicious"... a fantastic fall afternoon up here.

This orchard has been in the family for 10 generations! Even though it's the end of the apple picking season, the farm stand has apples, varieties of squash, pumpkins, gourds and wonderful treats available in their small shop on the premises. Just the drive there was beautiful and full of the fall colors. And yes, the apple cider donuts were... More

we've been coming here for years.....pick your own apples or get them at the stand. Cider donuts (homemade) add to the "allure". Weekends are busy and it's great to see a local farm doing well. Occassionally farm animals are brought in for the kids. Great views of the foothills of the Berkshires....great way to spend an hour or 4. Picknic... More

Pick-your-own apples and pears is available seasonally. There is also a substantial farm stand with lots of yummy local goods (honey, pies, cider, etc.). The views are stunning, and there is often a pizza truck there on the weekends. Otherwise, it is very close to both Washington Depot, Marbledale, and New Preston, where there are several nice places to go... More
