We perform checks on reviews.
Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Interesting to have seen this shamanism place with a lot of prayer cloths hanging around.

This is a historical place and worth a visit either before or after a bath in Baikal.

It is a must-stop for everyone coming to Olkhon and a sacred place for local Buryats. That was the case for centuries until Soviet communists exterminated or incarcerated virtually all local shamans. When a boy I visited the place and I remember it just like a beautiful rock - no voodoo stuff, no posts decorated with ribbons. It was only in 1981 that the aithorities gave it a status of "natural sightseeing" but traditions of the past started to return much later, after the collapse of the communist power.
It is a magical place - a gorgeous view, sandy beaches, deep blue waters of Baikal. It contains 19% of the world's sweet water reserves - can you imagine? Try to find a secluded place (not easy in high season) and just think of what was here, say, 500 years ago. Admire it at sunset or better at sunrise - no chirping tourists! And please - behave yourself. No climbing on Shamanka rock, no shouting, no alcohol, no littering. Local spirits shall not forgive you. (In the times passed women even were not allowed there.)

Recommend to go in the day time and sunset. View from lake or from rock are so good. If you want to take photo as my shot You can climb from the ground to the rock very easy than go down from top to ground

Only ten minutes walking from center of Khuzhir. This place looks awesome. Here is a Beach and it’s nice place for swimming in very cold Baykal.

Tour drivers usually include this stop and others during the several hours drive to Cape Khoboy. We saw this during a heavy rain and was a lovely stop along the route.

It was cold but saw a beautiful sunset over the rock. The scenery jaw dropping and no photos can do it justice.

This is a very magical and spiritual place for the Buryat people and their shaman. It tends to get a bit crowded in August but it is a lovely place to watch the sunset and take in the vastness of Lake Baikal
