There is a steep section for about a quarter of a mile from parking area to the edge of a cliff overlooking meadows and farms of Simsbury. Heublein Tower was open and provides gorgeous views from 5 flights up. Metacomet Blue Trail was pretty long, it took us 2.2 hours to complete. We started in back of the tower and... More

Lovely hike on a Sunday morning. Takes about 25 minutes to get to the top from parking area. Nice views of Farmington Valley from the top. Nice souvenir shop so take your wallet, but shop is only open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Great hike up and very cool old house. Hard to imagine family lived up there. We love CT in the fall and this afternoon hike was great.

We parked our car and hiked up the yellow trail which is suppose to be easier and shorter than the blue trail. The beginning is steep but then levels off. At the top you will be given stunning views of the Connecticut valley, reservoirs and the Farmington river. A little further up is the famous Hublein tower. What an amazing... More

This is a classic location in central Connecticut, and it does not disappoint. It's easy to find, easy to park, and worth the work of the hike. The first few minutes of the hike are a bit challenging, but it levels out fairly quickly, with the view at the top totally worth it. It is a dog-friendly trail, and we... More

Great location in Farmington Valley. Comfortable for many short activities. Close to sites that mark histories of this area.

We hiked to the Heubline Tower from the reservoir in West Hartford off or RT 44. Challenging inclines and about 7 miles overall. Great views from he top and its an interesting tour of the Tower, which doesn't take all that long. We will try it again n the fall when the color should be spectacular.

The first 5 minutes may scare you away, but hang tight - it is so worth the climb and it gets easy after that. The views are spectacular and it's nice to see so many people of all shapes and sizes and families out walking. Bring a picnic and spend a couple hours.
