After passing by for years on my way north I had time to spare so I stopped by. The park is not far off Rt 95, easy off and back on. It is off season so there was no admission fee. The park had many visitors on this nice day enjoying hiking trails, bird watching and fishing. It is the... More

Hammonasset State Park is second in beauty only to Greenwich Point, known as Tod's Point to the 20th century natives and Monakewego Shining Sands) to the original native people. Since Tod's point is really and rightfully only easily accessible to Greenwich residents, Hammonasset is the natural choice for folks that want easy access to a Connecticut beach. Although the state... More

Very friendly staff at the nature center. Informative and helpful. Could use a little better restroom setup or porta-potties.

This state park has a lot to offer. The well-kept trails meander parallel to the shoreline with glimpses of Long Island Sound. The beach is long and provides restroom and snack facilities in summer months. At the far end is a rocky trail that winds around the point to the east. There is a camping area and fields for ball... Hammonasset is a great place for hiking. Rangers are quite friendly and were very welcoming to a small group of photographers who wandered in to Meig's Point.

Hammonasset State Park is especially popular during the Summer months, however, this is a great Park to visit during the Winter months as you'll always have the opportunity for some great bird watching along the shore and marsh area. Although infrequent, Snowy Owls make their way to this Park and present great photo opportunities.

CT's best known beach is a great spot to go for a walk/run in addition to a stroll on the beach. This beautiful area is so much more than just a beach. Off season can be the best time to visit as it can be very busy on summe weekends.

This park has easy access just off Rt 95. The park is large, well maintained and offers a lot of outdoor activities. We hike/bird/bike here often in the winter when there are no crowds but the facilities remain open. There is a nature center with exhibits and restrooms. It's a good place to park & off load your bikes for... More

Hammonasset Beach is a great place for a walk or bird watching. The State has recently put some money into it. So, the facilities are getting better.

Beautiful beach and lovely trails. The beach houses are well-kept and the new nature center is delightful.
