Founded in 1825, the Connecticut Historical Society (CHS) is a non-profit museum, library, research and education center that strives to inspire and foster a life-long interest in history through research assistance, exhibitions, tours and programs for all ages. The colorful and interactive "Making Connecticut" exhibit is filled with more than 500 historic objects, images, and documents telling the story of Connecticut from the 1500s through today.

We have visited the Connecticut Historical Society Museum in Hartford, Connecticut multiple times, most recently on July 21st and have always enjoyed it. This is so worth the trip that we returned again this year. There is so much history here and there are such helpful people at this place that you should take the time to visit and do some research. Just remember, not open on Mondays!...More

The complete history of the state is presented by walking through a series of linked rooms, each covering a portion of the state's history. The rooms are full of artifacts, maps and narrative text.
