Attended a wedding and the grounds, sunken garden and barn for dining were beautiful. Great photo ops and bring your own caterer. Views of the valley. Museum is also quite special. Look for various special events all year long.

Thanks to my fellow Trip Advisors for recommending this tour -- I had never heard of Theodate Pope Riddle but the story of her life was fascinating and the house is beautiful. The house contains some famous paintings that have never been shown in museums.

The Hill-Stead Museum is a wonderful visit back in time. The historic house is well kept and the gardens are beautiful. The paintings are tremendous - you would never expect to see paintings from such renowned artists in such a suburban setting. Highly recommend.

Our guide Patricia Clark was extremely knowledgeable and engaging as we toured this wonderful Connecticut Colonial Revival home of female architect Theodate Pope Riddle. The private Impressionist Art collection is truly spectacular and the surrounding environs are beautiful, especially on an autumn day.

This house was built by Theodate Pope who was the first woman architect in the US. The house is beautiful with a lovely collection of Impressionist paintings. The grounds are also gorgeous and include a formal garden, a large field and woods to explore.
