What delicious taste combinations! This is my new favorite. I especially liked it when it reached ambient temperature (I can't explain).
Because I am stuck at the house, my hosts had this and a few other beer from FOC for me to try (yea, I'm special). ALL the beers that I tried were delicious to me.
I recommend sharing because each beer taste is unique and you may not like what you chose.

Looking for a casual, friendly hangout for a Saturday or Sunday afternoon? Fat Orange Cat Brew Company is so much fun. On a chilly fall day you can taste several fabulous brews while hanging around a fire pit or patio warmer; you will talk to all sorts of nice folks, some with kids, some with dogs. Bring a snack or a lunch while you choose your favorite beer. IPAs are always great, but the stouts are good too. We love this country, laid back setting for just hanging out with friends.

I was very happy to bring some friends to the brewery last week as they were never there before. We all love to try a variety of beers and it is perfect at this brewery as they offer tasters for beer servings. Get the tokens, swap them for a full glass, that is yours to keep. I can't wait to go back.

What a great visit. Very busy, great beer, and met some nice people. The sampler is a must. Beer kicks quick.

I first visited Fat Orange Cat (FOC) when they opened in the fall of 2016 shortly after they opened and the vibe was great! Tucked in a residential neighborhood is a large barn - behind the brewers home that hosts good beer - goats - chickens - it really is the shangria la of home breweries. In 2016 I was very impressed with the Jalapeno Jack beer. I like Jalapenos and truthfully not much of a beer fan - but this unique concoction mesmerized me - I left with a full array of FOC gear - my tasting glass - A growler filled w Jalapeno Jack, a tank top and one of the cat poker chips usually used for the tastings. Living 2 and half hours away - I did not have an opportunity to revisit. UNTIL this past weekend.
Now fast forward 3 years and I was pleasantly amazed to see how the atmosphere had changed - you can no longer park on the street - so FOC converted part of their property into a parking lot - with seating areas strategically positioned near the barn. FOC was hosting a fundraiser in conjunction with the Hartford roller derby team to raise awareness for cats with Cerebellar hypoplasia. Beer - fundraising - a win win.
it was pretty crowded when we arrived but the parking team found us a spot - people had little picnic areas set up - with BYO snacks and were enjoying the beer. It reminded me of going to your Aunt and Uncle's house in the country for an afternoon picnic outside the barn- with the goats and chickens in the pen to visit (kids love that) and the cold beer just a few steps away. FOC is also dog friendly (for friendly dogs) on the grounds (not in the tasting room) - so what is better than enjoying the countryside - with your dog and a cold beer (oh and your friends too).
We left with growler cans - tshirts (the logo has changed since our original visit in 2016) and the ability to donate to a charitable cause.
We will return and it wont be another 3 year hiatus.

We came to Fat Orange Cat on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend. We were surprised to see all the people there. There is a small indoor space where you get your beer, but the whole place is on the grounds of what appears to be someone's house. Most of the activity and seating is outside. The day we were there they had several portable heaters and several fires going outside. The beer was generally good, but too many IPA's for my taste. I know they're big now, but half or more of beer selection anymore is IPA! I recommend a visit.

My wife and I appreciate visiting breweries and had heard good things about Fat Orange Cat. We visited today and really enjoyed our afternoon sampling a wide variety of brews while sitting by one of the several outdoor fire pits. Everything about it is cool. We will be telling our friends about FOC and we will be definitely be back!

I went with a friend to use a gift cert. I received for Christmas. It was a nice day to visit. Not too crowded. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. They knew many other breweries throughout New England. They had a wide variety of beers and ales for tastings. I bought a four pack of a really nice white porter, “All Cats are Grey in the Dark”! And a growler of a double IPA.
If you’re a beer/ale person I highly recommend a visit.

Fat Orange Cat (FOC) is a hidden gem for sure. Its small, rural and laid back but attracts a lot of people that love great beer.

The people running the place are just the nicest you ever hope to meet. The prices are darn good too: you can sample 4 beers for $5 which is a deal. They make tasty IPAs (non IPAs as well but I am an IPA guy so that's what I sampled). They do not serve food here but feel free to bring lunch, the kids and the dog. They have chickens and goats running around too (maybe leave the dog at home if its an animal chaser) which adds to the relaxed atmosphere.

FOC sells growlers and canned beer to go. They even allow you a taste test the beer before you buy it...I don't think it gets much better than that!!!

I've been waiting to be in town during the hours of operation. The place is packed when it's open on Saturdays, but the wait is surprisingly not long as the bartenders are on top of it and make sure nobody has an empty glass. People send in pictures of their Fat Orange Cats with names and location, and these are posted on the wall. FUN! The day of our visit was sunny and cool but there were cozy bonfires going in several areas with seating. Chickens and goats hanging out in their pen nearby gives a downhome farm feeling. The beers were so good, and had a good range from the unusual to the delicious. All were excellent, even the IPAs which were surprisingly smooth. I would love to see this place open more often, and maybe offer food of some type, or even a popcorn machine. Either way it was a really neat place to visit and I'll be back with friends for sure next time I'm back in town!
