This scenic drive is a must for those wishing to experience one of Colorado's premier back roads.

I travel Hwy 141 often as I live just north of the town of Naturita, which sits on the scenic byway and also home to the only visitors center on the entire 133 mile route. This... read more

I travel Hwy 141 often as I live just north of the town of Naturita, which sits on the scenic byway and also home to the only visitors center on the entire 133 mile route. This alternate route bypasses the busy highway serving Montrose, Delta and Ouray if you are heading north to Grand Junction and takes you through one... More

Instead of taking the quickest route from Telluride to Grand Junction, we took the Unaweep-Tabeguache Scenic & Historic Byway (highways 145 and 141) that I had first read about on TA. The scenery was varied: red rocks, flat farm land, mountains, amazing rock layers and buttes, and winding rivers. We stopped at several overlooks to read signs about uranium and... More

A friend and I drove through here on our way from Grand Junction to Bedrock, CO. Amazing views! We had no idea that we were in for such a treat. The canyon changes constantly and is never boring. We left the scenic byway and drove into the equally beautiful Paradox Valley but picked the byway back up on our way... More

Highway 141 offers a traveler the opportunity for an intimate experience in the canyon country of the Colorado Plateau. If driving from north to south the drive starts by climbing into Unaweep Canyon through layers of Sandstone then entering the 1.7 billion year old granite of the Umcompaghre Plateau. Once out of Unaweep the road swings south and passed the... More

This is a spectacular drive with a variety of scenery. The best part in my opinion ir the drive from Gateway to Naturist along the Dolores river canyon. It is beautiful, unspoiled and uncrowded. There are no commercial activities or gas but plenty of place to stop and to camp primitively.

Thinking this drive would be across a high flat desert we left Telluride and came into high country pastures, farms, small towns with lovely vistas of the surrounding mountains. The road quickly turned into a canyon that only became more monumental and spectacular the farther north we went. The stunning scenery never let up for 133 miles, you drive along... More

As a local when someone comes to visit we always take them on this scenic drive. It shows the many facits of Colorado, from desert to canyons. A drive where you can see desert big horns on high rocks and huge elk in the valley. A must see road trip.

This was an amazing ride from Grand Junction to Telluride. The scenery around Gateway made us think we were driving through Zion National Park. The canyons, colors and cliff formations were terrific.

I have traveled this byway many times at various times of the year, but spring is the best of the best times to enjoy this road. When spring run-off is in full swing you will see numerous waterfalls spread between Whitewater and Gateway. Any time of the year it has wonderful views. Make sure to pull off the road and... More

We have made it a point to travel along America's most scenic roads and this was one of our favorites. Beautiful red rock canyon landscapes that rival Sedona, probably nicer than Sedona. We did the drive north to south from Grand Junction to Telluride. There are also nice views of some of the 14ers. The beginning (north end) is really... More
