Official site of the Tread of Pioneers Museum! The Tread of Pioneers Museum features a 1908 Queen Anne-style Victorian home with turn-of-the-century furnishings. On display are various ranching, mining and pioneer life artifacts from Routt County, a comprehensive History of Skiing exhibit, as well as a Native American arts display. Our Western room, home of an extensive firearms collection, traces our agricultural history and the story of an infamous outlaw, Harry Tracy. Special museum features are a computer interactive exhibit, Kids Scavenger Hunt, oral history library, local history research library, unique museum gift shop, and a historic photograph collection.Location: Corner of 8th and Oak in downtown Steamboat Springs.Hours: Tuesday through Saturday, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.Admission: $5 for adults; $4 for seniors over 62; $1 children for children ages 6 - 12; children under 6 years are free. Routt County residents are free with I.D.

This was a small but interesting place, it's worth the $6 we spent. They have a room on the 2nd floor dedicated to early guns and tools of the period. If your into skiing they have some interesting history about that too.

Well organized and great artifacts. There is a great scavenger hunt for kids. They have the best gift shop so if you are looking for a souvenir to take home this is the place. Very reasonable admission price.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We actually did not tour the inside of the museum. ($6 for non-residents). But, we were walking around the property to look for the Mystery Geocache. It's a really good one. You have to answer clues that you get the answers to on the points...More

We stumbled on their "behind the scenes" tour from the local daily. It took you back into the artifacts not on display. The curator obviously loves her work and her knowledge and enthusiasm shows. Even without that, it was a great snapshot of Steamboat Springs...More
