This really gives you the lay of the land, one of the best foothill hikes. Please don't park in a way that damages the nature you have come to see, if the lot is full then park at the overflow area down the road. A...More

Went with some friends and their kids and had a good time. Bathrooms at the trail head were absolutely the most disgusting bathrooms I've ever seen at any park ever. We were there on a Sunday so it was busy but ick! The stairs are...More

Fairly moderate walk up the mountain hour and half each way. The 143 stairs up to the tower is the hardest part. We are in are 60's younger people could make it hour and half round trip! They did have a AED in the tower...More

Get there early. Trust me. Short hike up and trail gets busy, but it's worth it when you make it to the 143 stairs up to the lookout. Bam. Hello Colorado! 360 views on top that will take your breath away. This is really a...More

It takes about 9 miles on a dirt road to get here but it is well worth it! It's a very steep hike to the top but if you pace yourself and drink lots of water you will be fine. Lots of shaded areas, but...More

This hike is a great short hike that was a little challenging for a couple of retired novice hikers. The reward at the tower was well worth the effort. This hike is a must for all when in the Denver area.

Fantasitc hike. Recommend you arrive before 8:30am on a weekend. We got there at 8am straight up and were one of the first there which made for a great hike with our Lab. Pack in pack out, no trash cans, so be aware for pet...More

A well-worn trail takes visitors up to an amazing fire tower that is still in use with beautiful 360 view of the mountains. The hike (approximately a little over 3 miles round trip) starts and maintains a moderately steep grade until reaching a saddle whereby...More

Literally breathtaking in that the climb up the stairs reaching the actual lookout site is lengthy and steep. Metaphorically breathtaking in that the vistas are spectacular from this little lookout building. The meadow below is a nice place to have a picnic before those stairs.

Just finished the hike today - definitely not stroller friendly. Lots of steep switchbacks (not very flat) with rocks and other objects to step over.

The trail was open last week and I believe will stay open until Rampart Range closes Dec 1, but I don't think the fire tower at the top is open after mid September.
