This was a beautiful hike, one of my favorites we did while in Pagosa. You start out in a meadow surrounded by the mountains, you end up hiking into the gorge. It can be narrow at times, with a great view of the river below....More

We did not go the full way but had some amazing views of the river. We liked that you could actually get down to the river. My son brought his fishing pole and was able to do stop and do a little fishing.

The wife and I easily added to our attempt to walk at least 15000 steps per day by hiking parallel to the river for a distance. The mountains, the puffy clouds and the blue sky were oh so beautiful.

You better pack plenty of water, bug spray. This is not for the average walker. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone that isn't used to steep inclines up & down this trail.

Piedra River trail is a trail that at first is up above the river, then drops down to river, you can continue on the trail for 10 miles. Late in summer it is calm and kids can play along the river. Piedra Falls Trail is...More

Great hike along the river with wildflowers a plenty out to the bridge. Beautiful views and the kids enjoyed a dip in the river.

This is a great easy hike that is beautiful. BUT, the road to the trailhead is very dangerous-it is in terrible shape-shame on the forest service to have this road in this shape in the height of the season

The trail we took followed along the river. We had kids from 10 years old to 60 and we all enjoyed it. This was the only place we hiked that didn't have a restroom.

Family with three young children... trail was about 1/2 mile long. Some parts of the trail were extremely narrow with steep drop offs. However, being careful, all of us had a great hike. The views of the falls and the mountains were gorgeous!

I have hiked along the trail and fished many times. This is a great trail. A little outside of town but worth the trip.

You could carry one in a carrier on your back quite a ways down the path, but I'd be careful allowing young ones walk on their on. There are some edges above the river early in the hike that wouldn't be advisable.
