Crystal Mill is a must see. Do not do this drive in your car. It's narrow, steep, and full of rocks. Guides are good. The red jeep is more comfy. Our guide is safe, but his sporadic narration was lack luster.

We've done the Alpine Loop via self-driven rental jeep and as the driver, I missed seeing some things I'm sure (to avoid driving off a cliff). This time we decided to let someone else drive so we could both rubberneck. It was a good day...More

The Jeep driver, Steve, might call it a road, but most times we were on what I would call a stream bed! A narrow, steep, and rocky "path". We did the Lead King Basin tour (5 hours) and it went by so fast. The wildflower...More

The road we take you on was originally built in the 1890's. And I imagine just as rough today as it was then. Thanks for the tip on contact lens. And thank you for the great review.

Did both the Crystal Mill and second day the Loop tour and it was excellent both days... drivers are very experienced, knowledgeable and safe up there in that very rugged terrain ... saw more wild flowers than I could ever imagine, waterfalls and the beautiful...More

Be sure to make a reservation, which we didn't have. Lucky for us a couple didn't show up for the tour so we got to take their place. The scenery is spectacular and breathtaking. This is definitely back country. Tony is a great tour guide...More

This trip is unforgettable. Driving along thin roads with sheer drops. It is a must-do trip. Our driver was Tony and he was full of information and an awesome driver. At no point was I worried we were going off the edge. He has the...More

Absolutely worth the money. We did the tour up to the mill. Beautiful, fun, and entertaining. I felt safe the whole time and hate heights. Lots of opportunities for pictures too. Call ahead and see if it's a busy time of year. We lucked out...More

Fall colors and when that event occurs is a very difficult thing to predict. Although we are seeing some evidence of an early fall season. In general, mid-September would be a good bet. That is about the best one can do.
