The Hard Tack has been a staple of the area for many years. A former silver mine, the tour is all on one level -no elevators or stairs- and easily navigated by young and old alike. Those who aren't fond of close spaces may want to pass up the tour as you may find it a bit disorienting at times.... More

It was a lot of fun going into a mine and learning how awful the working conditions were for the miners. The tour guide was quite knowledgeable and took the time to answer every question asked. The gift shop (located inside the mine) had tons of great, affordable things to buy.

We have done several mine tours all over Colorado and this is one of our favorites. The gift shop is set inside the mine. The tour is very, very informative and tells about the history of mining in CO. They have some great rock/mineral specimens to view. Highly recommend this for families.

Fun tour for all, as others have said it is not a true mine but was going to be a connection to a mine, that was shut down in the early 1900's. Very informative and fairly short tour but the owners are the tour guides and love to talk about the mining along Henson Creek and the tools that were... More

The mine is a tunnel that was actually made to connect to a real mine, but the experience was still very good. There is a gift store underground and there are several exhibits with gems and minerals from the local area. The tour group we were with was very small and the guide was very knowledgeable. All the staff were... More

This is a very interesting and fun adventure, especially for a rainy day and if you need something to do with your children.
