The Astor House is closed to the public for historic rehabilitation. Built in 1867 when Golden was the territorial capital, the Astor House stayed in continuous operation as a boarding and rooming house until 1971, serving legislators, miners, and students. With one of the first bathtubs in town, the Astor House also attracted trail-dusted visitors willing to pay 25 cents for a hot bath. Although the tub is no longer used for soaking, a visit to the Astor House Museum will show you why it’s on the National Register of Historic Places!

We came here and toured the house in about 20 minutes. As far as old house tours go this one was pretty bad. Not much to see and boring.

It's good that the community and state are focused on renovations of the older buildings in Golden. Looking forward to returning to Golden, CO and visiting when the Astor House re-opens.

Only three dollars but not worth my time as far as I was concerned. It's an old granny house. Not staged the best and I just wanted to leave about as soon as I got there.

This was a fun house to visit. It was not too fixed up and had an authentic feel to it. The bed rooms especially had a get down atmosphere. It was a hotel, a boarding house for quite a while and was even almost torn...More

Neat house to take a look back into history and my 9 year old loved looking around. The young women working was very nice and knowledgeable about the houses history.

I was excited about seeing this, but I was disappointed. There is a tub in the house that is thought to be the first one in Golden. The view from the balcony was nice. The furniture in the house was nothing special.

Read the other reviews and then GO! I won't do a repeat here but encourage anyone with a love of history, especially Colorado history, to take a half hour and tour the museum. It's only $3 each, can be done at your leisure and is...More

Built in 1867, the Astor House is one of the oldest landmarks in Golden. They've kept this house true to the period with furniture, cookware, utensils, decor, etc. The woman who eventually bought the house took in laundry from the miners who would come down...More

You will enjoy visiting this unique museum - built in 1867. It was in continuous operation as a boarding house until 1971! Its location was convenient for Territorial legislators to stay at as it is located behind the old meeting hall (now a restaurant) when...More
