64 Million Years in the Making...

Fossil Trace Golf Club is one of Denver Colorado's premier public golf courses designed by renowned golf course architect Jim Engh. Located in Golden, Colorado - Fossil Trace Golf Club is nestled adjacent to the foothills of the Rocky Mountain Front Range and only 15-minutes from downtown Denver, Colorado. In its short history, the golf course has enjoyed tremendous success and is considered one the finest golf courses and golf experiences available in Denver and all of Colorado. Most recently, Westword Magazine named Fossil Trace as "Best Golf Course in Denver" for the second time.

The golf course opened in July of 2003, approximately 64-million years after the first dinosaurs walked where holes 11 through 15 now sit. Triceratops footprints, as well as other prehistoric creatures' fossils can be viewed adjacent to the golf courses 12th green. Also, located just inside the main doors of the golf course clubhouse is an exhibit that details the rich history of the property and shares information about the dinosaur tracks and other impressive fossils uncovered on the golf course.

In addition to the prehistoric relics at Fossil Trace Golf Club, several massive remnants of clay mining equipment can be seen throughout the golf courses layout. Each piece serves as a reminder of the rich history of the property and adds to the award winning golf experience.

Take a golf vacation in Denver, Colorado and experience one of Denver's true "must play" golf courses adjacent to the Rocky Mountain Front Range Fossil Trace Golf Club.

As one of the top Denver Golf Courses you can play, experience Fossil Trace for yourself.

Fossil Trace Golf Club is a great place to play with great service and many enjoyable qualities. The course is in great shape. Nice driving range and good restaurant services. The folks here really looked out for my group and made our round special. We will return to play again.

This was a great course to play. It was in great shape and it has a lot of fun challenges. Huge downhill on #1, #10 is tempting to go for it off the tee on a par 4 and then the scenery on 11-1 5 is really neat. The Rockies in the background and a few links style holes gives... More

This is a fun public course to play in Denver. However, the fees are a little steep in my opinion for a public course. It's a challenging course to play. You're going to be using your driver and hiking shoes on some of the holes. The clubhouse is really nice and the course overall is well maintained.

Gorgeous course with dramatic stone formations on one and partially on another hole. Otherwise, a links style course that is designed to guide the errant drive back into the fairway and sunken putting greens that funnel balls towards, not away, from the hole. The surroundings are a bit more urban than the website photos suggest but the course is still... More

Don't be fooled by the first look at this club from the highway. And rounding the bend through the industrial park and in the midst of electric power lines, you may not believe you're approaching a gem of a golf course! But that's what this is! Challenging, beautiful and a friendly place. Be sure to play here!

Gorgeous views and in great condition. Lots of quirky fun holes and very undulating parts of greens. I'm a 4 handicap and this course wasn't long but pretty narrow on most holes. The greens roll pure and are well maintained. Carts are also very nice and updated. Can't find a single complaint about this course.

I have played Fossil Trace Golf Club a few times this year and find it to be my favorite course along the Front Range. Not only is it a beautiful course (mountain views, extremely well maintained, fabulous/friendly staff, great food) but I like it best because the staff maintains a pace of play better than any course I've played. It... More

Loved the golf course. Was in great shape. It was great how they worked the fossils into the course. The rough around the greens was a bit long. Also by the end of the round you are tired of walking down/up to the greens (it was a workout). Will come back to golf here.

This is a fun course! It's a bit more "links" like, as there are few trees (so little shade), but it does feature many interesting holes and shots. Some holes feature a stone monument or monolithic rocks...smack in the middle of the fairway...fun! You'll find short par 3s and very long par 5s, along with nicely manicured, but somewhat deep... Tees and fairways really good with some quirky twist and turn fairways. Greens are putt putt quality...oddly shaped with ridges and plateaus. A burger takes 45 min in the restaurant.
