Steep hike but interesting cemetery

The hike to the grave site is rather steep, but the trailhead warns of this. There are a few places to sit and rest along the trail and the views are good. Upon arrival, a sign... read more

I highly recommend this visit. Especially for folk with passion for the settling of our great western States. I was lucky to have a beautiful day for the short hike up. It's a very reasonable hike, one that kids older than 7 can easily make. It's about .25 miles of a hike. The trail is clean, clear and groomed. There... More

Another little hike recommended by locals to do before we headed back to Denver... Easy .5 mile walk with cute benches along the way... Graves sites were old and fun to read... I wish there was more information once you got there... Looks like at some point they do tours?! The path next to a house and a street so... More

The hike to the grave site is rather steep, but the trailhead warns of this. There are a few places to sit and rest along the trail and the views are good. Upon arrival, a sign describing Potter's field indicates that the real location of Doc Holliday's grave is unknown. The memorial marker was erected for tourists, and this was... More

Such a scam. You had to hike up a mile section uphill to get to the gravesite then it was just a memorial. They don't even know if he was even buried there. This was such a waste of time!!!

This is a very cool old and active cemetery. There was decent information on the site with signs and such. It's disappointing that it's not the actual resting place, but it is assumed he was buried in this area.

I didn't realize before going that the memorial is actually 1/2 mile up a hill. The cemetery is a pretty cool experience, however after reading that they don't really know where Doc Holliday's body is and it was just a tourist attraction was a little disappointing but the views and going to a cemetery on a hill made up for... If you are a western/history buff, you will enjoy the half-mile uphill hike to pay homage to Doc Holliday. It's not a fancy place but it gives some insight to the burial practices open to the rich vs. the rank and file to the downright poor. The latter (including Holliday who died in poverty) were put into a mass grave.... More

I have toured many cemeteries and have not seen one as visited as this one in and in this poor of shape. There were probably 20+ people visiting the day I went and the graves are all over grown with weeds. There was a headstone from 1955 buried in brush. Very depressing to see such lack of care.

As fans of Doc and the Earps, we enjoyed seeing this memorial. The walk is uphill to the cemetery, but is not very long. We had been to Tombstone and read some books on that history, but if you're not interested in such things this will be less interesting. Includes Kid Curry grave and several informative signboards.
