Most of what you need to know has been documented to death here, so here's the deal: Parking: We got there at 9:00 AM on a Saturday and the lot was already full. BUT...The Park Rangers were doing an EXCELLENT job controlling it all. We were 5th in line and the wait was less than 20 minutes until a spot... More

This hike was strenuous, but the saving grace is that it is only 1.2 miles up to the lake and a bit further onto the Spouting Rock. it was worth every step, but know that this is one of the most popular hikes in Colorado, get to the parking lot earn, like by eight a.m. Do take the extra time... I've hiked this trail over a half dozen times now in the past twenty years and it never is boring or a waste of time. It does have a lot of elevation climb and rough rocky areas, but there is a ton of shade and many areas to sit and rest if needed. The views and sights along the way... More

I'm 65 and from Michigan, so when my daughters said I could make this 1.2 mi. hike labeled "difficult," I wasn't sure. The altitude made for lots of extra breathing and required stops. It usually takes people 2 1/2 hours to get up and down. It took me 5! We did spend about a half hour at the top, though.... More

This is a beautiful jewel in the Glenwood Springs area, don't miss it. The water is a very unusual color and the setting is serene. Also a must, continue on to Sprouting Rock, you won't regret it! It's a raging tall waterfall.

this was an amazing trail. I would recommend doing it early and during the week and it still gets crowded. I hope it doesn't close but even the day we visited there was a girl who had to take her dog on the trail and it is posted and I even said something, but it's one like her that will... More

The best time to visit is May/June when the falls are full. It's a difficult 45min./1h hike, very steep and rocky. One of the most beautiful places in CO. Take lots of water and sunscreen. A must see place!

This past weekend I decided to hike the Hanging Lake Trail for the first time. The hike was well worth it. You are constantly seeing small water falls on your trek up. Once you get to the top and you are at Hanging Lake...wow! The water is so blue and it is so peaceful and serene up there. If you... More

Definately worth the effort. Trail is strenuous, but if you take your time is achievable for all. Quite a scramble in places. Good footwear is recommended, but we saw some people in trainers and flipflops! Took us about 2 hours to do the round trip, with stops for photos.

The place is awesome. It's a 1.2 miles long trail with a 1000-foot elevation change. It's worth it for the view at the top. Unfortunately, some very rude hikers whom had trouble reading signs like "Stay off the log". Yes, of course they were walking out along the log into the water. Also noticed trash on the trail...the place is... More
