We did about 4 miles of this trail, which was billed as moderate. That is true but it climbs from 6600 feet to 8100 feet and is a constant climb. Although we are used to altitude and hiking, it was a warm day and we...More

Good trail with no real driving. Great views. Was actually a little more difficult than I was expecting. Much of the trail is large sharp rocks, and some parts were a bit difficult to discern what was trail and what was not. Don't do it...More

Great day hike. Good elevation gain and great views of Durango. Multiple trail options and several trail maps along the route. Will do again when I'm in Durango.

This trail starts right out of the northwest end of town - the complete loop runs 5.5 miles and you'll gain 1,500' of vertical to the top at 8,000'. It's a regular, moderate pitch that's suitable for just about everyone. You can shorten the hike...More

Great views and not too difficult despite elevation gains. I really liked that there were trail maps at several trail junctions. Hard to get lost. It was also easy to change our route plans when there appeared to be a storm quickly approaching on a...More
