Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art is temporarily closed as we relocate to a new golden building in Denver’s Golden Triangle. Kirkland Museum’s Grand Opening is scheduled for March 10, 2018. The museum’s new building will offer visitors an enhanced experience with more display space while staying true to the salon style and intimate atmosphere for which the Kirkland is known. The museum’s three collections are: • International Decorative Art—A celebrated collection including notable examples of every major design period from Arts & Crafts to Postmodern. • Colorado & Regional Art—The largest repository of art showcasing the state and region’s talent, concentrating on the 1850s through the 1990s with about 7,000 works more than 700 artists. • Vance Kirkland Retrospective—Kirkland (1904–1981) is generally considered Colorado’s most distinguished modern painter. About 550 paintings and about 600 drawings and prints are held in his estate collection.

This is a fascinating place. The museum highlights 20th century design, and its curators have an eye for the original and the wonderful. The old location was a little cramped, but the design for the new building looks incredible. I am looking forward to the...More

Besides the artist's own mind-opening art displayed well on the walls, his collection of cultural artifacts is worth the visit in and by itself.

This is an amazing and eclectic collection of art and furniture. Some by Kirkland himself, but also a huge collection from other artists. It's going to be moving but the original location has great character.

This museum has the most incredible collection and the way it is organized is fantastic. The art here is beyond what one would get to see at the Denver Art Museum and it is more fun and less stuffy than the DAM too.

Curious cute little museum. Loved the decorative items from interesting looking sofas to the chinaware. Favorites for me were the sculpture garden and Kirkland's dot painting. However, I believe the museum is currently closed as they are moving to a different building.
