Such a gorgeous place! Probably the largest living organism on the planet! Acres and acres of Aspen trees. Simply breathtaking. Many so large it takes two people with outstretched arms to reach around a single tree. Wish we had seen the Aspens at the height...More

Awesome view of the mountains valleys and the partly unpaved road is a manageable drive , the end point from aspen to Crested butte town is also a pleasant small town with lots of nice eateries ! A must see when you are nearby.

A drive in late September was well worth it for the fall colors. The road was in very good condition and paved part of the way.

Mostly well graded dirt road. Easily able to drive in any type vehicle. We were in a rental vehicle and was not in the least bit nervous to take it on this road.

No there is already snow in the high country and the elevation is high. The road will probably be closed.
