Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is America's ONLY mountain zoo. Large alpine habitats are home to over 950 different animals and approximately 180 species. All of your favorites are here - monkeys, hippos, tigers, elephants and bears (oh my!). Hand-feed their large reticulated giraffe herd, and experience animals up-close, like never before.

Be sure to buy some lettuce to feed to the giraffes, and you will have some new best friends! The Mexican Wolf exhibit is quite educational.

This is such a fun outing in the Springs area. We have visited this zoo several times and it never disappoints. If you have a few days to spend in the area, this is a "must see".

We have such an amazing zoo. Animals were active and pleasantly noisy. So much fun! Stop to feed the giraffes and see their long black tongues. Watch the elephants paint. See the grizzlies swim in their pond. Look out at the city sprawled for miles in all directions. The zoo is what a family day is all about!!

This zoo is well thought out and puts the animals first. Not only are the giraffes great, so is the grizzly bear exhibit. They explained how they have taught the bears to interact with visitors - not to entertain visitors but to engage the bear's minds. They are very intelligent and easily bored (who knew?). If you are not from... More

The zoo is a wonderful and informative place to visit. The zoo has changed tremendously in the past years by updating the areas where the animals are kept. They are constantly keeping the needs of the animals in mind. It is a wonderful place for families to visit. Since it is open year round, you can go anytime. There is... More

There are a lot of hotels and camp grounds around Colorado Springs and many places to shop or eat. There is also the Garden of the Gods, with many rock formations especially balancing rock. ( a huge rock with a very small base resting on another rock) There is Manitou Springs which has shops that carry various Indian art and... More

This is the best zoo in the United States in my opinion. It is beautiful and located on the side of a mountain. Be prepared because it is uphill.

My sister and I went in January when I was out west for a visit. I attend the Madison,WI Zoo frequently which is very nice and free, so I am very picky about the Zoos that I pay for. This zoo has a good variety of animals and so many giraffes! They also had a many lions and elephants. We... More
