Rocky Mountain vistas

This ride I should not be missed on a motorcycle or during fall. When the Aspen trees are turning yellow it's spectacular.

Take your time and enjoy this experience. From Hotchkiss along the rim of the Black canyon of the Gunnison. The mountains and the canyon are a wonder to behold. Stop and get out of the car to experience the Grandeur of the Black Canyon, one of our newest National Parks.

On my way from Deadwood, SD to Anaheim, CA I decide to get off the main highway and take a detour in order to see the 133 or what I'm pretty sure is the McClure Pass. I'm glad I did (but I had the extra hour and a half, plus time to see Marble, CO). The drive consist of gorgeous... More

You can take a short 1 hour drive to marble or get a map and go on a coup!e of day journey. You will not be disappointed. The 1 hour j would suggest drive from Carbondale to Marble. Go up to thgthge Marble quarry. Then lunch at Slow Grovin. This would be a half a day adventure. Or just take... More

West Elk Loop is a must! Take a full day, follow the whole loop, stop off in Crested Butte and return to Carbondale via Kebler Pass and McClure pass. Kebler Pass in the fall, when the aspens are all turning gold, is breath-taking!

This drive goes from Carbondale to Crested Butte via the Kebler Pass (which is unpaved and closed in the winter). Very scenic drive through the mountains and part of CO coal country. The Pass has the largest Aspen forest in the world and ends up in charming Crested Butte, a true old west town. This takes some time espectially if... More

The mountains and lower lands are greening up, but there's still a good bit of snow at the higher altitudes. Lots of photo op stops along the way regardless. We had sunshine and blue skies, rain, sleet and snow during our drive - the worst of it as we went thru McClure Pass. Drove to Paonia - a small town... More

Wonderful drive across McClure pass with possible side trips to the villages of Marble and Redstone. The autumn colors were just peaking during our visit and the mountains and valleys were bathed in stunning reds, golds and greens. Worth every minute of the outing. Take the drive, you won't be sorry.
