Great day with Calypso.

Thanks to Calypso for our trip to the reef. We took our 7 month old on the boat with us and they were more then accommodating.

Our group of 4 spent 3 nights in Mission Beach, hoping to be able to go diving from here. As Calypso is the only option in the area, we stopped by their office in the afternoon of our arrival and encountered a clueless and unfriendly pair of female staff. Initially they were unable to let us know when their next... More

This particular group was told very clearly that in order to reserve their seats they would be required to pay a deposit. They declined to do this. They were aware that it was a very busy period and that they were informed that if their seats were not confirmed then we would have to let other guests reserve them. This... More

Our family had one opportunity to go out to the reef from Mission Beach as we were travelling to a fixed itinerary. We made a telephone enquiry with Calypso Adventures and we were told our credit card details were needed to make a hold on a reservation. There was no mention made regarding a cancellation policy. We were told to meet... More

Unfortunately this is just untrue. The guests were well aware of the cancellation policy, it had been verbally communicated to them and it was on the brochure they used to book the tour. They simply decided to cancel the trip the morning of departure as the sea was a little rough knowing that they would be charged. At the time... More

This is the second time that I have been out with this company and I must say that it was a very enjoyable experience. The first difference was that we met at the Calypso shop and were given wet suits (extra $5), mask and fins to take with us on the boat. Last time this was done on the boat.... More

We were taken to Ellison Reef on a calm morning with an incoming tide. Trip out was OK. However I was quite disappointed with the reef itself. In my opinion, having scouted quite far from the anchorage, this reef shows significant signs of decay, dieback, and damage. There were extensive areas I'd effectively call barren. Yes there were places of... More

One of the best experiences of my life! Only 1 hour's ride from Mission Beach, we stopped and watch whales right next to our boat - the staff must have seen this amazing sight countless times but they were still hugely enthusiastic. The reef itself was stunning - we saw turtles, sharks, giant clams and a huge variety of fish.... More

I went out with Calypso following a dive further South at Airlie Beach with Fantasea. The experience between the two operators could not be more different. Yes the Calypso vessel is not as big or as plush and yes you can get a bumpy ride out to the reef but the diving is exceptional and really worth it. Once I... More

Once we got to the reef, it was very good. The colours (even on a cloudy day) were spectacular and it was really interesting to see what initially looked like rocks suddenly move. And there were lots of fish. However, we were disappointed with several things. The boat that took us to the reef was basically a taxi; it had... More

I dived in the reefs near Cairns, Mission Beach and Whitsunday Islands, and i must admit that Eddy Reef (the one Calypso brings you to) is the best one! It's cheaper than reefcruises in Cairns, the reef is a lot better (not as damaged) and it's with small groups, so you can see a lot more!!! I got to see... More
